I always lean towards simple holiday tables. It can be overwhelming and intimidating to try to put something together from scratch, especially if you’re the hostess and have to cook and create a lovely table! So, in honor of simplicity, I’m sharing a 5-minute place card project that makes a big impact!
This project is inspired by the cutest magnetic mini succulent planters from Growing Home. If you know me or follow me on Instagram, you know I’m adore all things cactus and succulents! I saw them and immediately knew they would make adorable place cards and fun favors to take home, too. So clever and adorable.
Materials
- Magnetic Mini Succulent Planters, Growing Home
- Place cards, local craft store (I found mine at the Target Dollar Spot)
- Pen or marker with a fine tip
- Cookie cutters or napkin rings (metal if you can find them), Target Dollar Spot
- Sewing pins or t-pins
Basic Idea
Adorable magnetic mini succulent planters!
I found these paper banners at Target for $1.00 at the Dollar Spot, but these are relatively easy to find. You could make your own by cutting rectangles out of card stock and using a decorative or corner punch. Black paper with gold ink would be gorgeous, white with black ink is simple and modern, or autumnal colors would be happy and cheerful.
Simply take the place cards and using a sewing pin or t-pin, attach it to the cork. If you have children at the table, a few small pieces of double-sided tape or a hot glue gun would work well too.
Here is where the metal napkin rings come in handy—the planters have a magnet on the back and stick to the rings, which makes for a fantastic, easy, and gorgeous table setting and place card! Succulent care is easy–just sprint with water every two weeks.
Try Using Cookie Cutters!
Instead of using napkin rings, think about using autumnal cookie cutters to complement the place cards. They fit perfectly inside. I found mine at the Target Dollar Spot, but you can also find some here.
I hope these ideas inspire you to do something simple and beautiful for your holiday table! If you love succulents, follow Growing Home on Facebook and Instagram! They share all kinds of fun DIYs and ideas to bring succulents into your life easily and without a lot of maintenance.
