Let’s be frank: I have a black thumb. I’ve tried a lot of different plants, and there are one or two in my memory that will eek out a year or two before succumbing to death. Hey, it’s not all my fault! My apartment gets just a few hours of sunlight each day and it’s difficult to find a spot that is in the sun but out of the way. Sooooo…when I saw that these cuties were on clearance at Target, I jumped and bought one for $3.88. They’re fake. BUT THEY LOOK REAL. I’m going to take it to work and let it brighten up my gross carpeted cubicle.
This project just takes a few minutes. You can do this with any type of plant pot or container, though if the plants are real and already in the pot, you’ll want to keep it standing upright while working on it.
Materials
- Plant pot, planter, any type of container
- Washi tape, masking tape, or decorative tape
Basic Idea
- Wipe down the side of the plant pot with a damp paper towel or washcloth. Let dry.
- Adhere washi tape to the side in any pattern you want! I chose a pretty peach striped tape and just cut strips at an angle and adhered them across the pot in a cascading design.
That’s it!! Seriously. You can remove the tape easily without residue and use any color palette you want! This type of project would be great for party or wedding favors!
I’d love to see your washi tape projects–ANY of them! Comment below with a link or tag me on Instagram, @kristiecain, and show me what you’ve got! And stay tuned for a free printable on Friday!
