Not all gifts have to be wrapped–sometimes all you have time for is a gift bag from Target and that’s okay! This week’s wrapping tip for Wrap It Wednesday is just that—a gift bag!
If you saw last week’s feature, you’ll know that I needed to wrap gift for a new baby with Seattle Mariners fans for parents. I couldn’t find anything great in those colors (that teal is hard!), so I decided to look at what I had in my own craft stash. I ended up coming across some watercolor pages I painted and the colors matched perfectly, so I made some gift tags out of them. Check out that DIY here!
Materials
- 3-5 DIY Watercolor Gift Tags
- Jute or baker’s twine, or ribbon
- Gift bag
- Coordinating tissue
Basic Idea
Wrap your gift in tissue and place in gift bag. Take another sheet or two of tissue, grab it from the center and pull it through the air, flicking your wrist. This pulls it into the perfect “poufy” shape. While still holding the tissue, place your hand down into the bottom of the gift bag so that the amount of tissue outside is proportionate to the size of the bag. Adjust as necessary.
I chose the backdrop for the tags to be super clean and simple—a basic kraft gift bag and white tissue.
Cut 3-5 pieces of twine in cascading lengths. String on the tags.
Begin with the tag with the longest string and tie it to one of the handles. Continue tying the tags from longest to shortest. Trim the excess twine around the knots. Arrange so you can see all tags.
Cute and easy, right? I love that it’s quick but also unique–and it matches team colors without looking cheesy.
