July went by in a flash! And that means it’s time for another Instagram style challenge recap! I’ve been participating in monthly style challenges on Instagram for four or five months now, and it’s so much fun! Check out some previous posts here and here. If you’re interested, I say dive in! I have a free printable that will help you plan ahead a little and make the most of your closet. And a bonus: I’ve formatted four August style challenges so they are ready to use with the printable right away! Just cut, paste, and done! Click here to download the files. Free Printable: Be Kind to Yourself
Another installment of GSW free printables! These are my favorite! I love designing them and I put a lot of thought into what messages I want to share with you. And it seems you guys love them too and that makes me so, so happy!! It’s so important that we share advice, positivity, and joy with each other!
This print is an especially good and important one and it’s something I struggle with regularly, and I know a lot of you do too.
Be kind to yourself. I placed the message in the middle of a bunch cactus for a reason. There are a lot of “pricks” out there–people, events, situations–and they can really beat you up, draw blood, cause pain. But sometimes you might find you are being the biggest prick of all! So stop being a jerk to yourself!! Be nice! Do things that make you happy. You deserve it. You must, must, MUST be kind and gentle to yourself to push through the rough spots and move forward.
Washi Tape Plant Pot
Let’s be frank: I have a black thumb. I’ve tried a lot of different plants, and there are one or two in my memory that will eek out a year or two before succumbing to death. Hey, it’s not all my fault! My apartment gets just a few hours of sunlight each day and it’s difficult to find a spot that is in the sun but out of the way. Sooooo…when I saw that these cuties were on clearance at Target, I jumped and bought one for $3.88. They’re fake. BUT THEY LOOK REAL. I’m going to take it to work and let it brighten up my gross carpeted cubicle.
This project just takes a few minutes. You can do this with any type of plant pot or container, though if the plants are real and already in the pot, you’ll want to keep it standing upright while working on it.
Free Printable: Keep Choosing Joy
Happy Friday! The third installment of the GSW free printables is so pretty! I love the marbled trend happening right now and I really want to experiment with some DIY marbling. I’m sure that will happen and I’ll definitely share it with you. The marbled background in this printable is handmade paper that I bought at Paper Source. It would be beautiful to frame by itself! Each paper is handmade and one-of-a-kind.
This message serves as a gentle little voice in your ear that encourages you to choose positivity over negativity, optimism over pessimism, joy over despair. This can be a huge struggle depending on what is happening in your life (for me too), but taking a few minutes to focus on something that you are thankful for, and joyful for, goes a long way. There is always something to be thankful for! It could be big, like your marriage, or your health. But small works too! Sunshine, the delicious avocado on your sandwich, or a sweet supportive text from your bestie. All of these things bring joy and make your day better. So choose joy, choose positivity. And by focusing on choosing it, it will become more abundant in your life!
Anthropologie Inspired DIY Furniture
This Anthropologie inspired DIY furniture project is simple, affordable, and quick, which seems to be my go-to attributes for DIY projects these days, especially when it’s so hot outside! Whereas the trend for the last few years has been “dipping” only the legs in color, it has shifted to painting everything but the legs, leaving only that section the natural wood color.
