If you saw last week’s feature, you’ll know that I needed to wrap gift for a new baby with Seattle Mariners fans for parents. I couldn’t find anything great in those colors (that teal is hard!), so I decided to look at what I had in my own craft stash. I ended up coming across some watercolor pages I painted and the colors matched perfectly, so I made some gift tags out of them. Check out that DIY here!
I’ve become a gold foil fanatic. And a planter fanatic (see a DIY roundup here!). So it’s only natural that those two would get together and I’d make a gold foil planter. Or two. Or maybe four or five. But the gold foil process is easy and pretty quick–and the best part is that you can’t screw it up. You really can’t! And that is the best kind of crafting!
This week’s tutorial for a gold foil planter will give you the basics and show you how to create easy designs using painter’s tape. Consider stripes, polka dots, squares, whatever you want. You could even foil the entire pot!

I’m sharing a different kind of wrap tip this week for Wrap It Wednesday—DIY watercolor gift tags! Make a bunch and have them on hand for quick gifts—put them on a wine bottle, add them to a simple kraft paper gift, or add to a gift bag to take it up a notch.
Backstory: I needed to wrap a Seattle Mariners baseball baby gift in Mariners colors. Naturally. But it proved harder to do than I thought. Months ago I had played around with watercolor and painted a bunch of sheets that were just hangin’ around. I came across the stack a few days ago and a few of the sheets matched the Mariners colors perfectly! So I made a bunch of gift tags and added them to a simple gift bag (look for that in next week’s Wrap It Wednesday feature!). Easy peasy.
