I have a smallish apartment and I’m always looking for clever ways to store things, whether it’s dividers in my sock drawers, bins for under my bed, or a file cabinet to stuff into the coat closet. I looked for something to store my clutches in for a long time and came up empty-handed. I knew I needed something that didn’t take up square footage and was pretty, too. I stumbled across basic wire baskets at The Container Store that you can hang on the wall and I was sold! It’s the perfect DIY storage for small spaces–they’re affordable and offer a great foundation to spruce up–with spray paint, name tags, or even weaving with fabric! This is super easy project and goes up quickly.
Materials
- Wire baskets (mine are from The Container Store)
- Screws
- Level
- Pencil
- Spray paint (optional)
- Drill
Basic Idea
- Spray paint baskets the color of your choice (optional, of course, but think about the possibilities!). Mine are gold.
- Measure and mark the drill points with a pencil. If installing them in a vertical line, measure to ensure they will be in line with one another. Make sure the marks are level. This is where a level comes in handy. I love the Stanley level app on my iPhone.
- Attach the baskets to the wall using your drill.
- Fill with goodies!
I love the wire baskets because it showcases my clutches and also reminds me to use them more often! Win win.

LOVE this 🙂 and Im totally jealous of your paper collection, too gorgeous to even use! xx Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much, Rachael! I like how it turned out, and the baskets don’t stick out too far from the wall. And yes, it kills me to use any of my paper! And–every time I have a new project in mind, I somehow determine that none of the paper I own will work anyway, which forces me to buy more paper that then becomes too pretty to use. It’s a problem. 🙂
